SEARS customers in Tampa will benefit from the installation of new, more reliable escalators at University Mall, February 2014.
The existing escalators were installed when shopping centre first opened in 1976 and their reliability has decreased dramatically over time. As such, engineers have determined that a full replacement is necessary as rehabilitating the aging units is neither practical nor cost effective in the long term.
Moreover, the new escalators are being installed as part of a greater replacement program which also includes updating escalators at SEARS in Broward Mall, South Florida plus several locations in Porto Rico later this spring
